TALKING AND EXPLORING

ABOUT US

Discover the charm of West London with Talking & Exploring, a unique initiative created by Joanna Dudzinska to connect people through culture, history, and conversation. Alongside Anthony Smith, Joanna, a Polish-born tour guide and English teacher, leads you on captivating walks that are as informative as they are leisurely.

Embrace the opportunity to visit local businesses, artists’ studios, and engage in enriching chats with fellow explorers. These strolls often culminate in a warm gathering at a local eatery, where the exchange of memories and insights is encouraged.

Even if you can’t join in person, the Ealing Walking, Talking and Exploring Group extends its camaraderie to online events, welcoming everyone from newcomers to longtime locals. Supported by the OPDC, and recognized for contributing to heritage days and cross-cultural engagement, Talking & Exploring offers more than just a walk—it’s a chance to learn English, enjoy the outdoors, and bridge social gaps, all while building a closely-knit community.

Join us to step beyond the tourist trails and truly connect with the heartbeat of the city!

Joanna Dudzinska & Anthony Smith

We are a dynamic duo at the heart of Talking & Exploring!

Joanna, a passionate tour guide and English teacher from Poland, brings a vibrant spirit and a deep love for local culture and history to the streets of West London. Her dedication to fostering connections among people shines through each guided walk.

Anthony, a retired English teacher with a wealth of experience in working with refugee and migrant learners, contributes a rich tapestry of knowledge and a commitment to community-building.

Together, they create an inviting atmosphere where every step is a story, and every conversation opens doors to new friendships and insights. Join them on their next stroll to uncover the hidden gems of the city and the stories that make each path unique.

Discover West London with us!

The walks we offer are mainly in the West London area, are usually not long, both in distance and time, and are as much about sharing information and perspectives as learning about what you are seeing. We arrange visits to different businesses and creatives’ studios and chat to people on the way. There is always space for an unexpected encounter. Participants are encouraged to share their memories and knowledge. Those who wish so can stay on with us after the walk at a chosen restaurant or café of local character to chill out and chat more. If walks are not possible, we turn to online events.

Learn English with us!

We encourage newcomers to the country to join us as the walks are an excellent opportunity for learners of English to practise and improve the language and to learn more about the country.

Additionally, and as a separate undertaking, as English teachers we offer individual and group classes in conversation and grammar for those interested.

We recently had the pleasure of participating in a walking group organised and facilitated by Joanna from Walking, Talking and Exploring, and it was an exceptional experience! The event focused on Hanwell, West London, and it was a perfect blend of socialising, physical activity, and historical education.

From the moment we set off, Joanna’s enthusiasm and knowledge were evident. She expertly guided us through the charming streets of Hanwell, sharing fascinating insights about the local history and landmarks that many of us had never known, despite living in the area for years. Her storytelling brought the past to life, making the walk both informative and engaging.

The participants thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and build connections within their community. The friendly atmosphere Joanna fostered made it easy for everyone to mingle and chat, turning strangers into friends by the end of the walk.

The route itself was thoughtfully planned, showcasing picturesque spots and hidden gems of Hanwell, ensuring the walk was enjoyable for all fitness levels. We appreciated the balance between walking, talking, and exploring – it was clear that Joanna put a lot of effort into making sure every aspect of the event was well-organised and enjoyable.

Overall, our experience with Walking, Talking and Exploring was outstanding. Joanna’s passion for community, history, and creating meaningful experiences truly shines through in her work. We highly recommend joining one of their groups if you’re looking to learn more about your local area, enjoy a lovely walk, and make new friends. We can’t wait to join another event soon!

Another lovely walk with convivial company and local expertise contributed by previous residents and existing traders. What a treat!

The pleasure is that you do all the research and hard work and we just come along to enjoy all your effort and the contributions of the others. Great fun.

Not just walking and talking, and maybe eating, but an informed deep reach into the lives, cultures and history of vibrant, often overlooked parts of west London. Ideal for the curious wanting to know more about what makes such a diverse metropolis as London tick.

We collaborated with Talking and Exploring on some research we were doing in Park Royal. What an amazing breadth of knowledge and charisma! We had the chance to meet a range of interesting businesses and feel that our research is so much more rich and reflective because of it. Thank you!

Joanna’s tour exploring Polish heratige in Ealing was informative and fun. From myths to modern history, this was a great way to get a sense of this local community with now long-rooted connections in the borough, and ending with some lovely local Polish food! Highly recommend these tours if you’re looking to learn more about people and places in West London.

I had a pleasure working with Joanna founder of Talking and Exploring. She organised an event in which I showcased one of my sculptures. The crowd invited by Joanna was interesting and diverse. I’ve made some great connections thanks to that event (Poles at Act One) I’d recommend working with her as well as joining one of her many walks in London.

I’ve been on a couple of Joanna’s walks so far and have been amazed by her extensive knowledge and thorough research of the areas covered during the walk. She had oodles of passion and enthusiasm. The walks are also attended by an eclectic group of people who are warmly given space to share their own knowledge and stories during the walk. I only wish my schedule allowed me to attend more of the walks!

Terrific walk with Joanna who was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining company! I enjoyed the variety of landscapes that we covered…. From the wildness of Wormwood Scrubs to the Middle Eastern cuisine of Acton area and the fabulous Carpet Outlets. The other people on the walk were also great company and it is a lovely way to meet others and connect. An all round 5 star event… plus you get out and about and improve your overall levels of fitness in a gentle and sociable way!

Joanna and her wonderful local and sometimes further afield walks. I have been on quite a few now, and always have a lovely time on the walking tours. They are well researched and fully interactive with her attendees, some of whom are locals too and have knowledge of the areas visited. She actively encourages people to share their own local knowledge and experiences, while on the walks. They always finish with a local visit to a coffee shop or café etc, so a great opportunity to meet and make new friends if you choose too.
